I keep an awareness
of the space I'm in
and wait

with a lot

wait with a lot of patience

for something to strike me
when I go shooting

to get blown away
by colour, an object,
the way something is moving,
or some combination
of a number of things

with a lot
of patience.

And I know
when a picture is in front of me.

I have this idea
that runs around,
it runs around
and it
stays
like taking pictures
of the last few people at a party
at 4 a.m.
and I want to capture that sad, tired state—
the people who have stuck around too long
and still don't want to go home,
or maybe they don't have
a home to go back to
when it’s over.
