What We're Looking For
Visual Arts
Photography, illustration, collage, painting, typography, mixed media—we're open to it all.

Poetry & Hybrid
Any style, any length. Surprise us.

Chapbooks
We accept manuscripts of up to 30 pages—poetry-only or a mix of poetry and short fiction—in the spirit of the chapbook: a short book that allows a writer to showcase a focused body of work in one place.
Submission Fees
Shadow and Sax is an independently run art and literary press. We’re a small, passionate team building something from the ground up. Submission fees help us cover essential costs like web hosting, design tools, and other expenses that keep the press alive. Every dollar goes directly back into building the press and sustaining a platform for emerging voices in art and literature.

As a small thank-you, contributors selected for publication will receive a $5 tip. It’s a gesture of gratitude, and one we’re committed to growing as the press grows.

Author + Artist Rights
We accept previously published work—just confirm you have the rights to resubmit. You retain full copyright of your work before, during, and after publication.

By submitting, you grant Shadow and Sax non-exclusive rights to publish your work and archive it on our website, and share it on our social media or for promotional purposes. If your work is republished elsewhere, we appreciate a credit for its original publication in Shadow and Sax.
